From a foregone collapse to a dream that crossed the ocean. The story of Campobasso FC — a tale of rebirth, passion, and promises fulfilled — is now the subject of an international television series. Four episodes will showcase to the world how a club once doomed to oblivion managed to rise again twice in two years, reclaiming its place in professional football and winning hearts across the globe.

The title speaks of strength and destiny: “Running with the Wolves.” The series premieres in prime time on ESPN on July 29, 2025, at 7:00 PM ET (1:00 AM on July 30 in Italy), with the remaining episodes airing at 8:00 PM ET the same day, and from 7:00 to 9:00 PM ET on July 31. The series will also be available on Disney’s streaming platforms.

Football was over. Then came America.
It all began in the summer of 2022, when football in Campobasso seemed destined to vanish. Just ten days before the season was set to begin, a ruling from the Italian Football Federation forced the Wolves to restart from Eccellenza — the fifth tier of Italian amateur football. It was the end. Or so it seemed.

Then came the twist. A group of American entrepreneurs, with deep roots in the Molise region, decided to buy the club and attempt the impossible: to bring professional football back to a land that lives and breathes the game like few others.

What followed was more than a sporting comeback — it was an act of love, a leap of faith, and a story written with sacrifice, identity, and courage.

Two Promotions, One Heart
The 2022/23 season ended in dramatic fashion, with promotion to Serie D secured on the final day. The following year, despite cautious predictions, Campobasso defied expectations once again. After a rocky start, the club made bold choices and achieved a second consecutive promotion. For the first time in its 105-year history, Campobasso FC returned to the professional ranks in record time.

From the Stands to the Screens of the World
The TV series was made possible by Disney, through its sports powerhouse ESPN, with a project co-developed by Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos, partners in the club’s ownership group and creative forces behind the series.

“The story of Campobasso is proof that miracles do happen — and that when fans and owners are united by a shared dream, anything is possible,” said Matt Rizzetta, Chairman of the club. “Special thanks to our partners Kelly and Mark, who were instrumental in bringing this series to life, and to our entire ownership family, who have believed deeply in our vision from day one. Campobasso is not just a football club — it’s a platform that represents the hopes and dreams living inside each of us. We’re thrilled to offer a global audience a look into what it took to bring this vision to life and all the sacrifices made along the way.”

A Story That Belongs to Everyone
“Running with the Wolves” is not just a chronicle of two record-breaking seasons. It is a love letter to football, a hymn to resilience, a window into one of the most passionate fan bases in Italy, into a city that never gave up, and into a team that turned its fall into a springboard for a global journey.

In the silence of an empty stadium, when all seemed lost, someone still dared to dream. Now, that dream can be seen — and heard — all around the world.
